So many items of this kind are truly collectible or have significant emotional value. Which is why we won’t compromise on doing it the right way. We use our knowledge and experience to choose the right support methods, materials and techniques.
We always use fully reversible methods of support, usually stitching and pinning clothing items into place. Fully reversible means the item could come out of the frame in the future in good enough condition that it could be worn again. We won’t use the kind of methods that don’t support items fully. You see too many shirts that have slumped in frames over time. We certainly don’t use inappropriate tapes and adhesives that will stain, mark and damage the fabric. And even if tucked out of sight within the frame, items will never be cut or trimmed to make it easier to squeeze them in. Instead, we take time and care with your precious items, helping to preserve and protect them for years to come.
Worried about signatures or colours fading?
We can give you sound advice and guidance on the best way to protect and preserve the signatures on a shirt. Glazing can help slow the fading process and we have a full range to choose from. From standard float glass, through to UV filtering glass and anti-reflection choices with different UV filtering levels. But we also have some fantastic acrylic options. Not the thin very flexible acrylic that scratches easily and attracts huge amount of dust. Instead we offer art quality acrylic including the very best available worldwide – Tru Vue’s Optium Acrylic. We can talk through the various options with you to ensure we are meeting your requirements.
What about team colours or frame choices?
If you choose our package deal then it’s easy as the frame is already chosen for you. In a superb quality smooth black finish this box frame has enough depth to allow the shirt to sit happily within it and not touch the glass. You can personalise it from a variety of mountboard colours for the shirt to be displayed on. The package deal is £395 including VAT. You might still want to add UV filtering glazing – and we can add that for a small additional cost.
If that isn’t right for your pieces, then our fully bespoke design options will be your best choice. We can mix and match mountboard colours, even with multiple layered boards to give you maximum design impact. Adding other memorabilia items or even captions or plaques allows us to create something distinctly special for you.
Frame choice would be from our entire extensive range with hand-finished options also available. We can create extra-deep box frames to accommodate items such as baseball caps or even jackets and blazers. Add in the UV filtering and anti-reflection glazing options and you have a truly special bespoke item specifically created to show off your sporting memorabilia. Prices for our bespoke framing will depend on size and final choice of frame and glazing.
